Assistant to Henry Moore; Gained confidence in working on a larger scale.

Awarded Boise Scholarship, travelled to Greece. Cleared studio and started new series of drawings from which 'Window Piece' and 'Declaration' were made.

Started using fiberglass and colour with 'Rosebud'.

Lecturer, Bennington College, Vermont, USA. Encouraged by David Smith to work in steel.

Retrospective at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Second English sculptor ever to have a retrospective at Forte de Belvedere, Florence, the first being Henry Moore.
