Bram Bogart

To end the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the gallery, we are delighted to introduce a selection of works by the artists that helped shaping its success.

In celebration of Bram Bogart's 90th birthday, Bernard Jacobson Gallery is proud to present an exhibition that spans the six decades of the artist's distinguished career. The show will focus on a recurring theme in Bogart's work, the monochrome painting.

From densely 'scripted' works in which trowelled heaps of highly toned paint nestle into and against each other, to calm upright works in which austere white planes are enlivened by occasionally erupting flecks of bright colour, the exhibition bares witness to the diverse range of effects Bogart's technical mastery enables.

This exhibition features works in clay by contemporary artists, including Bram Bogart, Barry Flanagan, Phillip King, and Nicholas Pope.

The work on display at Bernard Jacobson Gallery remains, like Bram Bogart's career, a testament to his unique and single-minded breed of abstraction. There is a diversity of scale and even medium, with some smaller experiments in thickened gouache resting alongside some of the largest works of his career.
